How to download a Snapchat Spotlight video

It takes about half a minute, on a phone or a computer.

  1. Copy the link

In Snapchat, open the Spotlight video, tap Share, then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from the browser bar.

  2. Paste it above

Drop the link into the box at the top and press Download. A preview shows up in a few seconds.

  3. Save the file

Press the download button and the MP4 goes straight to your Downloads.

What you get with DownSpotlight

A small tool that does one job and stays out of your way.

Spotlight as MP4

The video comes as a single MP4 file with its sound, ready to play on any phone or computer.

Every link style

Links like snapchat.com/spotlight/… and the short snapchat.com/t/… share links both work.

Preview first

You see the video, its caption and the creator before you download, so you know it's the right one.

Public videos

Anything that opens in a browser without logging in can be saved. Private snaps can't.

Any device

iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux — if it has a modern browser, it works.

No account, no storage

You don't sign in to Snapchat, and files pass straight through to your device instead of being kept on our side.

A Snapchat Spotlight downloader without the clutter

DownSpotlight turns a public Snapchat Spotlight link into an MP4 you can keep. Paste the link, check the preview and download. There's no daily limit and no pop-ups.

People use it to watch clips offline, back up their own Spotlight videos, or reuse their own footage in another app.

What you can save

  • Public Spotlight videos
  • Videos from snapchat.com/t share links
  • The file Snapchat serves for the video
  • A preview and caption before you download

Only public Spotlight videos can be downloaded. Private snaps, chats and stories that need a login are not available.

Saving Snapchat Spotlight videos on your phone or computer

Where the file ends up depends on your device.

iPhone & iPad

Open DownSpotlight in Safari and tap the download button. The file lands in the Files app, under Downloads. To get it into Photos, open it, tap Share, then Save Video.

Android

Chrome and most other browsers save the video to your Downloads folder. A moment later it usually shows up in the gallery too.

Windows, Mac & Linux

Click the download button and the file goes to your browser's Downloads folder. If a video opens in a new tab instead, right-click it and choose Save video as.

If something doesn't work

These are the usual suspects.

It says the video wasn't found

The video is probably private, was removed, or isn't public. Make sure the link opens in a browser where you're not logged in.

It asks me to try again

Snapchat sometimes refuses automated requests. Wait a minute and try once more — most of the time that does it.

The link doesn't open a Spotlight page

Copy the link from a Spotlight video itself. Links to profiles, stories or chats have no single video to download.
